We Are Legion (We are Bob) by Dennis Taylor: A One-Minute Book Review

If you like science fiction, I can't recommend this enough, especially the audiobook.

I am about to finish the 5th book and purchase the 6th. The serial story is supposed to end with the 7th book, which is currently being written, although the author has said that standalone books might be released in the future.

The books have a bunch of nerdy references used for humor, especially references to Star Trek.

Audible is very good at offering free trials because they want you to subscribe to their service. I've taken advantage of this for years. I'll get a free trial for one to three months, occasionally pay for a month, and then cancel the service. A few months will go by, and then Audible will offer me another free trial.  

Amazon Prime will do the same thing, usually offering a free trial ranging from a week to a month. I found out that if I don't accept their one-week offer, they will eventually offer me a free month. It helps that I am a regular Amazon customer because they only make the offers during a purchase.

This echoes pooints I have seen in other videos.  Long distance space travel seems too dangerous.   Even going to Mars is very risky.

I have long speculated that in some distant future we might send android robots, with human personalties, to the stars.  By coincindence, I'm listening to the "Bobiverse" audio book series about that same topic.

I remember seeing the ending on TV many decades ago. Before they exit the craft, someone suggests that they test the air. A scientists responds that it doesn't matter, they have nowhere else to go. Pretty brutal. Fortunately, the air is fine.

Star Wars The Clone Wars: Wild Space

I found Star Wars The Clone Wars: Wild Space entertaining, but parts of it annoying. It makes for an enjoyable audiobook listen, but there are better Star Wars books.

The book is a spin-off of the Clone Wars TV series. Even though I enjoyed the TV series, the story doesn't necessarily rise above it, and I expect more from a book. It feels like it is part of a mass produced series, and this doesn't inspire me to read more of the series.

The second thing that bothered me is the petty politics and bickering between Bail Organa and Obi-Wan Kenobi. This runs counter to what we know about these characters.

Finally, the main story about the Sith Holocron haunting Obi-Wan Kenobi did not seem logical. Bail Organa and Obi-Wan should have bailed at the first sign of trouble, instead of plunging into their likely destruction. Hearing "Die Jedi, Die Jedi, Die Jedi!" over and over was too annoying.

Rating: B-

Let's Be Real About The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie

Hey Thor,

I think that The Mandalorian and Grogu is exactly the movie Disney needs right now. It will please enough fans, like me, to keep them satisfied until a much more significant Star Wars movie comes out next year.

It is, after all, an entertaining movie. If word gets out — which I think it will — more people will become curious and go see it. Even if I am wrong, there are probably a ton of people right now watching The Mandalorian for the first time because they feel the need to catch up and find out what all the fuss is about.

I think that the movie will spark enough interest to get people excited for Starfighter next year. I suspect people are going to be lining up for that one.

For once, I think that Disney knows what they are doing.
